ordering 2x r290x pre watercooled need help

going to order a pair of these for new build wondering if the backplates can be fitted without dismantling the rest of pre watercooled card.

please reply asap as im awaiting to order

lol ive rang ocuk and couldnt give me an answer on spending nearly £1200

he said use forums obviously he couldnt be bothered to find out as someone must know because they assemble them.

i didn't bother with back plates but all depends how they are attached i suppose

I know with the EKWB ones you don't have to unscrew the block screws (4 of them) so I guess it depends on which block you get.

Here's the EKWB backplate install guide. Looks like you don't have to remove the waterblock to install it.

If you ask in cs they will often offer to fit the backplates for you if bought at the same time as theres no extra work in it for them

thanks for that now i can proceed with an order of over 2k very disappointed with the way i was dealt with on the phone, almost went elsewhere.

unfortunately, customer service depends a lot on the person you get and how they feel on the day.

We're all human, it's hard to standup for bad customer service, but so long as you don't get repeat bad service and isn't institutional then the CS you have received was just an one off.

Hopefully they've sorted everything.

Especially this time of year where the stress of working in retail at Christmas is stacking on any current tech trends (like this new mining obsession).

Also ringing them up will mean that you will deal with whoever picks up the phone and may not the person who knows the answer, whether they are there or not (they may be busy elsewhere or dealing with other customers which is likely). Posting on the forum in the customer service section will let the people who know the answer, get back to you when they have time, rather than giving you a half guess at that instant, which could bite you on the ass later.

I posted the exact same question on the 290x release, as the premium for fitting a card wouldn't be justified if i had to fit it myself anyway to get the backplate on. Turns out you dont need to take the block off but OCuk offered to do it for me without charging extra or me offering to do it for them.
