Hi there overclockers, i'm looking to get 2 more monitors to go with my 24" samsung so i can play games across 3 screens, for example car in the middle one, surroundings on the other 2 so it looks like one big screen, and was just wondering before i go ahead and order 2 more, is that my monitor is no longer on overclockers, and seeing as i can get 2 22"'s for £200 from overclockers would that be fine as long as the monitors are all at the same resolution?

Secondly is this strictly the use of eyefinity or is this possible on a nvidia card? using a GTX 460 and would love to cross screen gameplay. Prepared to upgrade the graphics card to a higher end ATI for eyefinity if required however would prefer not to if theres no need for me to go ahead and upgrade.

Hi there. For this to work with an nvidia card you will need to have two of them in sli so the minimum would be a second 460. If you are going to do this I would recomend that you get another two screens of the same size with the same aspect ratio. For the best results and the use of bezel correction you will want three of the same screens.

This is something I did a little while back and you wont regret it.

Hi, thanks for your swift reply, it seems i'll need to fish about for another 2 monitors, ideally though would it not be better to upgrade to one of the better ATI cards instead of spending another £130 on another mid-range card? Performance wise the resolution across 3 1920x1080 monitor's would be a little to much for a mid-range card no?

yes it would be better to upgrade to a better ati card, even my 6970 gets pushed gaming at 5760x1080, i would say the sweet spot is 6950 crossfire for eyefinity, you could always get one then add another later if cash is a bit tight

I've been reading brilliant reviews about the 6950 with the flash to 6970 clocks and had my eye on that for a while, i'll certaintly order one of them next and sell my GTX 460 :)

My 5850@1ghz is pushed at 5760x1080 (6100 odd x 1080 with bezel correction) but on the games i play, mostly racing games I can still play on high with some settings turned down. At this resolution AA is the killer, some games like batman aa, Dirt2 and F1 work great with low levels of aa. Magicka with xbox pads is also pretty sweet if you have a few mates over.

Be prepared for a lot of games not to work well if at all. New vegas for example I still haven't got around to playing as you need to fiddle with the config files in the game directory to get the pitboy and terminals etc to display correctly. I played for about 10 minutes then gave up.

Fifa is another one.. works great on the pitch but the menus are broken. You can get a game going if you know your way through the menus though and at 5760 seeing the entire pitch makes the game just so much better.

Anyway I digress... As others have said your best bet is to get the best ati card you can afford the 6950 unlocked is a steal if you don't mind some bios unlocking.

Another thing that you need to remember is that one monitor needs to be connected through the display port and on the older cards (and I think the new cards as well) if you want to use eyefinity and don't have a dp monitor you will need an active display port adapter.

Personally I am using 1x samsung 2333sw and 2x samsung 2333t monitors at the side. All of these are dvi monitors so the middle one (the sw) is connected with a sapphire active dp adapter.

Fabulous information there Vince, I'm currently using a Samsung 24" Syncmaster B2430 lovely display but after seeing eyefinity for what it can do i've got a taste that unfortunately won't go unheeded untill i purchase exactly 3 of these with a 6950.

Personally i'm absolutely fine with bios unlocking and so forth so that unlocks perfect possibility's for me. This monitor i have is roughly 14 months old (to myself) so unaware if it's a DP monitor or not.
