Ordering From Amazon.de?

I've realised that a particular item I was going to buy from Amazon UK is almost £50 cheaper on Amazon.de

I'm travelling to our German sister company soon so could have the item delivered there. Though how does it work, do I need to register at Amazon.de and provide a faux German address? How would payment work if I do that, wouldnt it know it's a UK bank account with UK billing address?

Thanks in advance :)

P.S. hope this post doesn't break any OCUK competitor rules, I've purposely not said what the item is, despite OCUK not selling it anyway.

Pretty sure you can order from amazon.de and have it delivered to a UK address, too, if this is easier?

I've heard before that, despite ordering from the German site, a lot of the items just get dispatched from their UK warehouses if you order it here

I've ordered from the de version before to a uk address got it at the price+the exchange deduction.

Obviously a chance you'll get charged by customs.

You can log into the amazon.de with your UK account.

Just add the german address and select it as the shipping address.

Same can be done with any of the Amazons

Pretty much it.

I remember being pleasantly surprised when I realised my UK log on would work in US and .de (I got a a rather amusing German exclusive set of the Tremors films a few years back, in a graboid mouth stand).

I've ordered phones from there a few times, usually cheaper. Just log in using your normal account, send to your registered UK address. There's no customs charges, also with last two phones I noticed they came from the UK distribution centre anyway and had UK plugs.

I've ordered stuff from germany too, not Amazon, but yes the prices were the main thing being much better than the UK. Took a while to get here but otherwise no problems - and no import duties/VAT to pay. Well, I think they have the german equivalent of VAT applied to them, but their rates are lower than ours.

European Free Trade. Enjoy it whilst it lasts!
