Get the 8800. The drivers and the card in general are pretty disappointing from ATI.

I would also say get a S-ATA optical drive - they are faster and tidier and mean that IDE can be disabled. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CD-047-PO

Maybe get a slightly cheaper case too - that is nothing special IMO.

Bestest case evverr above :-)

Have fallen in love with the case as my friend has one and i do not like the Akasa eclipse at all im afraid.

Regarding the 2900 im pretty set on getting that gfx card as its performance is on par with a gts and all my previous experiences with ATI regarding their drivers have been very good and im not really willing to pluck for a gtx :/.

Sata optical drive sounds good though :)

Edit: Also, if you do a lot of video/PS stuff, RAID0 HDDs would help.

Such a negliable (sp?) amount it really isn't worth the hassle.

LianLi cases are lovely, the eclipse is dog ugly :p.

SATA optical drives are deffinatly a good idea, they are about the same price as IDE ones anyways.

I have 3 of those Seagates, brilliant drives, not much seek noise, and formats to about 298GB. Also they seem to be really nice and quick, which is good.

Nice looking setup over all, hope it all goes well. :)

Yeah, but a 250GB HDD will go down to around 220-230ish, and that's a huge loss of space, especially if he is doing video and photoshop editing.

Correct.

Or 250,048,479,232 bytes :p

Definition of a true geek right there :p

Seriously though the rig looks perfectly fine, as said get a SATA DVD writer which is the same price and perhaps get a 2x2Gb kit if you are not so bothered about overclocking.

I think there will be another price cut for quads in a few days though so maybe worth waiting.

Only thing I can see wrong with the OPs first spec is his harddrive. Almost as cheap to get a 500GB WD Caviar AAKS which are supposed to be as fast if not faster then what you have specced. Almost twice the size too :)

I like my 2900XT and the extra £100 I saved from going with a GTX. Driver releases so far have been good, just making the card better and better.
