Right pc blew tonight, have to make a decision on what to buy. There are 2 choices, please tell me fast as im ordering tomorrow.

OR

Any changes?

Will it all fit? Bit concerned with the striker extreem and *** tuniq tower, will that fit?

I have to order tomorrow so i get it friday, please help a man in need.

avoid the nvidia chipsets unless you want SLI - they tend to be a pain for stable overclocking. Better off with an X38 or a P35 mobo. If you want a premium board you can't beat the asus maximus formula. I don't like the Reaper RAM either, it is gimicky and the heatsinks get in the way and achieve very little.

7200.11 has firmware problems relating the cache which haven't been resolved, consider the WD SE16 AAKS drive instead.

That mobo is ridiculously expensive. Consider the tried & tested P35 chipset, it will overclock your Q6600 just as well and for half the price.

As above..also Geil ull memory (if you choose a p35 mobo..mine is the abit ip35 pro) is a lot cheaper and excellent for overclocking etc.

Save £50 and get Vista Home Premium unless you want Bitlocker or their own remote desktop software.

As said the mobo is overkill

If you're getting the tunic tower, then just get the OEM Q6600

Okay, so on both counts the motherboard is overkill?

I really like Asus, always been with them, can you suggest a board from them then?

Also, how easy is it to set up a raid? Never done it before and thought i might try - will go for the WD HDD's then, as you recomended RichL.

I will also tweak the ram - different brand.

THanks for your input - not ordering till 11:30 so please feed back - will try and get a screen shot of the new list.

I use the Asus p5k premium with 2 x seagates in RAID0.

Do NOT use the Premium board with WD hard drives if you intend to RAID them as they will not work. There is a known and unresolved compatibility issue with the Intel RAID controller.

I had to sell my WD Raptors and buy Seagates as I really wanted RAID.

If I was you Id research your chosen P5K board more thoroughly before pressing the buy button as it may still have issues with WD hard drives in RAID.

Im also baffled as to why you went with DDR3??? Just get some good DDR2 for £50-£100ish and overclock it, save yourself £200 minimum mate.

Edit: Ah just seen you went with a 4gb kit. Even so Id get 4gb of DDR2.

Phoned them, OMG they are good, changed the hdd's to seagates 32mb Cashe ones - shold do nicely :) thanks OCUK.

Also, i post4ed the wrong pic - silly me here is the right one

You still went for Vista Ultimate, which is probably unnecessary but other that that you've got yourself a very good setup there
