Ok guys I have made my mind up to a extent and ordering my new gpu's tomorrow and getting 27" monitor later on as my current gpu the 560ti really wont handle the resolution.

The choices ive got too are:

x2 KFA2 GeForce GTX 660TI EX OC 3072MB
x1 KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 EX OC 4096MB
x2 MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III OC 3072MB

Im really unsure on the 7950's though as ive had ati cards before and hated the ccc of ati, also im worried about coil whine on the ati cards which has been widely reported with ati cards.

Ive got a maximum of about £550 to spend on the gpus and the 27" monitor I will be getting later on will either be a Dell or DGM so will be running in 1400p.

I am just looking for last minute advice ect before I pull the trigger tomorrow.

Yeah thats what I was thinking as I really like the MSI Frozr cooler but if I do go for the MSI 7950 what I could do is get 1 card now and the DGM monitor and get a second gpu later on for xfire?

Yes 7950 is powerful enough for a single card, single monitor at the mo, especially when overclocked.

Ok thanks guys will pull the trigger on the MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III OC 3072MB.

Do you think I should do as I mentioned above and rather than get x2 now get just the one and the DGM monitor then another later on?

And just to check the 7950s are better than the 660TI's?

Yes, 660s rival the 7870s supposedly, 670 rivals 7950. But all change depending on an good overclock.

I'd say get the monitor, gpus are always sliding down in pricing. When you need another 7950 chances are they'll be 200 or less.

Thanks again guys well x1 7950 and the DGM it is then but will order friday if im getting both hehe.

Appriciate your input guys cheers.

Yeah thats why I wont go for it when I see coil whine threads its normaly about the vtx cards. Decided to ditch the dgm / gpu purchase today and get the Dell 2731HM and get gpu at a later date.

I know I would regret going for the DGM not because of the warranty as OCUK is handling the warranty for 3 years on them but purely for the fact ive always wanted a Dell 27"

If noise is an issue, then you got a lucky escape from the twin frozr, it's one of the loudest custom cooled 7950's out there:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-7950-review-benchmark,3207-12.html

The His IceQ is a happy medium as it's not too loud and vents most of the air out the back even though it has a centrifugal fan.

(Don't jump down my throats folks if you own one, it's just an observation:))

I don't think coil whine will be an issue for you on that psu, when I tried a 7970 WF it had it, but when I used 2 seperate PCI-e cables to power the gpu, there was zero coil whine, so it's power draw that's doing it I think.

Since you 'hate' CCC(ouch) then it sounds to me you might be better off holding out and see if Nvidia make a move on the pricing front as the way it stands right now, they are hemorrhaging sales to AMD left right and centre with the price drop.

Otherwise if you do go AMD, then it would be wise to ditch the 'hate' and discover 'patience'.

I use both green/red on almost a daily basis so CP's aren't an issue for me.

:)
