Well if this turns out to be 100% true, unlike that “fossil” found in that Mars rock back in the 90s, then it’d be no real surprise. Maybe Panspermia is responsible and could well mean life around the universe could be a lot more likely (though I believe it is anyway).

Oh and as this is GD I better add unless they’re talking about Marianne Faithfulls Mars Bar.
 
In fact this is being mis-reported by the media - NASA has confirmed organic materials (ie carbon compounds), not really that big news as they're found throughout the solar system. Organic matter is considered to be biological in nature and this is what the news are reporting as being announced but it's none of the sort as far as I can tell.

yep, organic molecules, ie. carbon based.

frankly it would be surprising if organic molecules aren't found on the vast majority of the planets (and space) in the universe.
 
They've basically found some of the building blocks of life that are far away from being anywhere near assembled to be able to create life.
