Hi guys, some quick advice would be appreciated.

My origin account has been hacked by some Eastern European/Russian scumbag. I've managed to get it back but I cannot update my security settings as they have changed/added (not sure which it is an old account) security question which I cannot read as it is in some Eastern Euro language and have no idea of getting the answer.

Anything I can do?

i would imagine origin support would be your first port of call, they are bound to see logs of the account changing hands and as long as you can prove you were the original owner i wouldnt see an issue gettin your a/c back

I had this, hadn't set up the security stuff as I had the account before it existed. Rang Origin support and they sorted it no problems.

Actually ended up emailing the guy who bought the hacked account and gave him access to it anyway as he just wanted to play battlefront and couldn't afford it, no payment linked to the account so he couldn't actually steal anything.

I got them on the phone and they sorted it in about 10mins, as much grief as I give EA fair play to them in this instance.

They sent emails to my email account to validate was basically it. They could also view the fact that all my logins were UK then suddenly from Eastern Europe and then all my details change, must have painted a shifty enough picture.

No idea how they got my details mind.

When you get the chance make sure to enable 2 factor authentication on the account as well. I had an alert that somebody had tried to get into mine before and that stopped them.

Various game forums have been hacked recently (Epic Games and Funcom most recently, but also DOTA2 and some fan GTA forum) It's possible they got your details from there. At this point 2 factor authentication is essential anywhere that has it available.

I'm going to be setting up the mobile authentication when I'm home later this week.

Just dont use the App Authenticator. I had it installed on my phone. It died when I dropped it in the pool on holiday. Come to log into Origin and it asked for my code........... ah.

So 10 minute chat with EA Support and got it sorted. Added the extra security but this time via text message... :)

I just find it ironic that the same people that treat the net as a lawless playground to go smash it up and cause general mayhem would be the first to scream and complain about net neutrality/net control issues when in the main their actions are a big contributor toward a tighter controlled net.

Happened me a few months back when i seen fifa somehow show up on my account, got it refunded and password reset. Again a Russian, always seems to be them for some reason.
