Origin auto-adding Steam-purchased EA titles

would they not just be looking at some meta file, xml file or something from your Steam install / dir and then just link the two up if they find a ref to say ME1?

I hardly use Origin - I installed it for BF3 and got a free copy of Burnout Paradise, I also fired Origin up the other day to play ME3 demo. Can't remembe if ME1 appeared as I've got ME1 in my Steam list.. I'll check when I get chance..

I have BF3 and ME3 demos + MOH, none of which I need to have in the list.. booo!

BF3 is the only one I actually used, and ME3 when its out.

yes just yes

go read other forums - its not just pulling information about games (thats just the start) - its also pulling surfing habits , what you`ve downloaded , etc

really sad to see privacy is of little concern here :(

Any actual sources of proof that this is what it's doing? Or just more scaremongering forum threads that quote the EULA?

I know their EULA is a bit watery around the issue, but has anyone actually gone past that and proven that the client searching entire hard drives and uploading this information to EA? I don't think so.

In fact, I'm pretty sure the EULA doesn't mention surfing habbits and downloads like you say it's getting... It covers things like which OS you're using, installed programs and their last (and other information freely provided by windows to applications), your IP and if you've got any special peripherals installed.

I'm waiting for him to post his link of 'proof' to another forum where he's making the same bogus claims. He will probably have been similarly challenged in that forum and as such he will have included a link back to his post on *this* forum, proving his point over there.

I've got ME1 & ME2 on Steam and they're not showing up on Origin. Would be nice to have the ME 1, 2 & 3 on the one piece of gaming software.

I think we could be waiting a while for actual proof. :p

you have so little understanding its not even funny.

I laughed out loud at this and now people in the office are looking at me funny. :(

Yep Origin now has my Medal of Honor game which I bought on steam.

Not sure how to feel about this - overjoyed, dumbfounded, angry, depressed, sad?

It doesn't really make any difference to me so I'm non plussed I guess.

What, you mean that he can't use himself as a reference? What's the world coming to? :p

It's ironic that his reply was extremely funny. Possibly so funny that it's "not even funny" :D I think people in my office are used to be laughing randomly so they didn't really notice when I laughed at his post.

DS2 which I bought on Steam has appeared in my Origin, EA are the real life Weyland Yutani Corp :D.

Shouldn't care really since I've uninstalled BF3 anyway so no need to use Origin anymore

Doesn`t bother me either way, i uninstalled bf3 ages ago for being a pile of Please star out swear words. If the patches have turned it from an unfinished pile of **** to a half decent game i may reinstall.
