Can I backup an Origin game to External Drive and then write it back to SSD when I want to play it again, just like with Steam. Basically to save having to download again.
Yes, you can. When you want to reinstall it, start downloading the game again and then pause it once it begins. Then close Origin and overwrite the new download with the backed up files.
I'm pretty sure if you copied the game files (from Program Files or whatever), then put them in a directory you wanted it, went into Origin settings and set that as your game directory it'd work fine. You'll probably have to right click your games in the library and repair them after this (only 1 or 2 files to download) for Origin to fully recognise it.
Its a right faff to do but is possible if you copy the folder beforehand and use that to copy over to the game directory after starting a new download/install as described above.
Its a surprise a smoother method hasnt been introduced yet as its my only complaint with origin.
Titanfall is a bloody nightmare if you dont havr a spare 50gb of spare HDD space!
You can also create a junction point with a program like "steam mover" which will allow you to play games off your HDD when origin thinks they are on your SSD.
