Anyone know how I can fix this?

When I launch origin I instantly get a message that says "Origin has stopped working", it doesnt even attempt to load just this error box.

I've uninstalled origin, reinstalled it with the latest version of the app from the origin site, but the same thing happens again.

This is a problem mainly because of my bf3 addiction, can anyone advise.

A million thank you's in advance to whoever can solve my issue.

The origin I downloaded is called originthinsetup, is there a originfatsetup or something like that?

Or am I misinterpreting what thin means.

Solution for which Origin will not start: 1. Opens the Origin folder (in my case D: \ Program Files (x86) \ Origin) 2. Searches for the OriginTMP.exe 3. Name the OriginTMP.exe simply e.g. in OriginTMP_2.exe Now you should start again Origin

Uninstall.
Disable firewall/windows UAC.
Reinstall.

Anything I've seen "x has stopped working". Has always been down to firewall/UAC :p

Probably just finished scanning your disks, evaluating your e-mails, copying your facebook history, and reading your internet history. Now it's done you're on your own.

How is it no hard loss if I can't play BF3.

Anyway, I'm still getting this error...looks like I will have to reformat but I thought I'd post the error details incase someone wants to have a stab at helping me to fix this.

This is what I get when I click problem details

OK, so it's evidently an application crash, cause unknown. I'm baffled that a reinstall didn't help unless you didn't clear the registry of all things Origin beforehand.
So I would reccomend 3 things:
1) Clear the registry of Origin remnants (making sure nothing else is running anything referencing 'Origin'.
2) Delete any save- and/or configuration files (wherever they might be).
3) Reinstall, but this time to a different disk location.
If that doesn't work, I have no idea what else you could do without outside help.

I had this same problem a simple reboot of my pc solved this..

Apart from whats been said above im clueless, I wish EA never came up witht he idea or Origin and kept all there games with steam But we need it:(

Try a different install directory, if you have more than 1 HDD, install to a different drive. Maybe disable all anti-virus/firewall temporarily before you install.

Maybe youre missing a .dll file somewhere in the windows folder that origin requires. Try searching google for origin and missing dll files.

Is your windows up to date?

Origin is the bane of pc gaming, the only thing it is good for, and it pains me to say it, is BF3. That is the only reason that EA peice of crud is on my pc, so I can play BF3.

It will never happen but if EA ever allowed BF3 to be sold on Steam without the need for Origin, I'd like to think there would be a mass uninstall of Origin across the globe overnight and everyone would buy BF3 from Steam instead. Leaving the Origin userbase to plummet and EA to go and cry in the corner. It will never happen but one can dream.
