Quick question.. I take it you can only have two squad companions at one time? What happens to the characters that you don't select as part of your squad? Can you meet up with them later?

ta,

Buah?

I don't really understand the question, it's hub based, you pick your goons and complete a mission, return to hub and repeat, the goons you don't pick just stay at the hub.

You pick any two whenever you leave your ship. You can pick a different two every time. Some cause specific events in missions though.

Also don't feel bad about picking squad mates just because you like their characters, for the most part you can complete everything with anyone.

Cheers. It's just I kitted one out, then selected another character and the other just vanished.

Thanks :)

Is it worth sticking with this game? Interface feels rather awkward.

Finished playing through both games last weekend, much preferred the first over the second, but yeah they're both great games, stick with it.

Yes there are some downsides, but do stick with it! :D

Overall great game in my opinion, must've played it nearly a dozen times :o every way possible.

I was a little disappointed that there's no gamepad support unless you buy Xpadder or something, and then work around the PC UI. But I've just started a character that I hope to move over to number 2, I played with the default sheperd on the xbox a long time ago. Missed a week of lectures as a result. :/

Definitely stick with it, it's an epic game. Tip- put points in to charm or intimidate and keep one of them maxed(i'm thinking of a certain moment with Wrex;))

I originally played it on the 360, then on PC and i found the kb/m to be much better actually, though it can be awkward at first.

Epic game, finished both parts!

I set all commands to my razer naga, and some to G's of G11, so no problem with all menu/ buttons/etc.

I just played through the first one again this week. I'd forgotten how epic the soundtrack and story are, and how dreadful the bloody Mako is! Can't stand Kaiden either. Going to pick up the second one again this week I think, but I may look to avoid scanning for resources as that was even worse than the Mako...

but I may look to avoid scanning for resources as that was even worse than the Mako...

Search for "Gibbed's save editor". Once you've made a ME2 save, you can modify it with that, e.g. changing decisions made in ME1 or simply giving yourself tons of resources so you can avoid scanning completely. I've played ME2 nearly as much as the first game and the only time I've scanned for resources was on my initial playthrough back when the game first came out, which was too much :o

If you are struggling to get into it, it might be worth reading the codex. Gives you lots of info and background on the game world. I read it the first time i played it and it really helped me get in to it.

Like the OP I've recently started on ME, I'm at Level 15 now. One thing that really annoys me about the party selection is that (like KOTOR2) you can't access gear assigned to people not in your party. Effectively this means that if you want your active party to have the best gear (as you would), then when changing party members you have to faff about transferring over the kit. A good example would be weapon/ammo mods and maybe even the weapons themselves, you don't want your most effective weapons sat on your ship, you want them out there kicking ass. So you have to do something lame like, exit the Normandy with them in your party, unequip the gear, reenter the normandy, exit the normany again this time with your proper party, and equip the decent gear :( Right pain in the arse and I can't believe they didn't change this after KOTOR2, I know that logically if person X has been issued a suit of armour, you wouldn't expect person Y to exit the spaceship and then be able to put it on. BUT, it's not like you can't manually get that situation to happen via the method I described above. So they are forcing you to do a laborious task for the sake of continuity, with the same net result as if you could just swipe items of characters who aren't in the party.
