I just got myself an Xbox and a load of games. I'm currently using an RGB Scart lead on a Samsung 40" F86 TV. Would the advanced component lead work on a PAL Xbox and would the difference in quality be worth it?

Yes it is much better

Try and get a monster cable one as that one had amazing quality.

Yes it will.

I cant say much about the component, but I went from a standard scart (that came with the console) to an advanced scart cable, and the difference in both sound and visual quality was quite impressive!

If you can get one cheap, do it.

I miss my xbox, really should repair it at some point.

IIRC a component lead on the original Xbox is only useful if you have modded it and switched it to output an NTSC signal.

Ok I've just read about the cable and it appears that it'll only run 525i and 480i on a PAL console without mods. I know the Scart runs at 525i too so would it be worth it for £20?

With just interlaced modes available there was very little difference between RGB and component to me so I wouldn't spend the £20 unless willing to mod the xbox. I switched mine to NTSC video output and 480p, 576p and even 720p (in XBMC) all look great :)
