Original Xbox Htpc

Can the original xbox play 720p and 1080p just for curiosity this maybe the cheapest way to have a htpc.

For console HTPC surely a PS3 is the way to go? It has a blueray drive!

A ps3 will cost a lot more than an original xbox.

I believe the original might do 720p but 1080p was beyond it last time I checked (admittedly, a long time ago).

I think it can do both but needs a kit to do it? off the top of my head mind...

Just I would envisage that to get a original Xbox working as a media centre will only cost around £40-£50 which in my current situation a good bargain.

720p and 1080i outputs, but it only has a Pentium 3 733MHz and 64MB RAM so it's not fast enough for HD material.

...although if you want a box for cheap iPlayer access XMBC supports that and it works well

It's okay my virgin media box plays iplayer
