I'm looking for a book that is a good read of similarity's between different cultures eg. why all cultures use the same basic pyramid for there buildings of importance and goes on to explain different theories as to why so many cultures have so many similarity's. Would be good if it had a lot of real facts in it as well. Is there such a book out there which isn't to hard to follow?

1. Pyramids are the largest structure you can build without needing cement. Its (relatively) simply to build.

Important building have to be large, so it made sense to build a pyramid.

2. What you're looking ofr is anthropology. The study of societies, their social structures and customs. See if you can find a simple beginner's book for anthropology - I studied it (and egyptology) at uni, so I've only got uni books on it!

Tried any books by the usual suspects such as Hancock or Von Daniken ? Heavens mirror by Graham Hancock is a good read. It demonstrates a lot of research on the subject of pyramids built in roughly the same epoch to a simmilar mathematical design.

However it is often cited that Hancocks theory that the Great Pyramids mirror the belt of Orion is flawed as they dont mirror them.

Nope haven't read any books on the subject. Fingerprints of gods looks like it should be a good read, although his conclusions sounds a bit far fetched.

just purchased

Fingerprints of the Gods: The Quest Continues (New Updated Edition)

see what it's like, if anyone got any more suggestions.

Christ, not Hancock. His conclussions are just so far fetched, as said above his gibberish on the giza plateau is just plain wrong.

Might be an interesting page turner, but I would suggest you look for an author with a bettter reputation, if you're looking for the truth, or in fact proper archaeokogical and scientific research.

Not necessarily true at all. Whilst his conclusion that the giza plateau mirrors orions belt is wrong, he has prevented evidence that the sphinx is a lot older than scholars and academics would have us believe.

High temples are always to do with reaching "god" - the higher the temple, the more holt it is. That's why many monastaries/temples are built on the top of mountains. It's a shame people don't believe god lives in the ground, at least followers would only require a shovel.
