Hi, well Im about to start a new modding project, and I have just drained my loop and dismantled it and moved my system to a temprary home in another case, however, after having dismantled to loop, and on closer inspection there is a nasty dry, almost powdery deposit left in the blocks, rad, and worst of all the pump - infact the pump was having to work its nuts off to actually spin!

it looks like limescale but its much finer than this - when I filled the loop I used de-ionised water, and used some royal purple coolant - not the ideal choice I know but its what I used none the less.

what would be the best way to clean the parts of the loop? a solution of distilled water with some lemon juice added?

any help would be much appreciated!

Mate allways let the blocks and Rad soack in Distilled vinigar for a few nights as it will remove all the dirty deposits.

8-12hrs in vinagar then flush with distilled water then do again. Repeat untill no more dirt or murky water comes out.

Just because the blocks and Rads are new doesnt mean they are clean.

these blocks and rads are not new they have been in use for quite a while without a water change ;)

silicates from dyes?

all dyes start off as powder, and since tubing is porous and the coolanmt evaps over time they eventually precipitate back to powder. a good strong pump and an impingment block only quicken this.

if you had any dye or additive, thats prolly it.

otherwise its prolly junk from the radiator, youd be surprised for how long it keeps coming out if you dont clean properly.

most additives coat the blocks, thats how they prevent corrosion (purple ice, water wetter etc) avoid using them

i just use copper only, and then dont need additives ;)
