I've been running Orthos to stress test my PC.

I have set up 3 seperate installations of the program & have each one running at the same time. 1 running blend & the other 2 running small ffts. Set the cpu affinity for the 2 versions running ffts so all 4 cores are being tested.

Now as it is running I'm getting the following coming up in the ffts tests

(version testing cores 0 & 1)

WARNING: Affinity Mask: Process: 0xC Sys: 0xF

(version testing cores 2 & 3)

WARNING: Affinity Mask: Process: 0x3 Sys: 0xF

I have stopped the program, gone back to bios & removed the overclock I was testing .

Spec is in sig, I set the RAM up in bios (timings & volts) to the recommend. I have incresed the CPU multiplier from 11.5 to 12 & turned off cool & quiet.

Are these warnings anything to be concerened about?

am I doing something really stupidly wrong?

I was running 3 as one of the guides I found on the web (total Oc novice here) suggested it. orthos ony tests 2 cores so you need to run 2 versions & set the CPU affinity in task manager to test the 4 cores.

The other version was running on blend to test the ram as well (again as suggested by the guide).

I've downloaded prime, so will give that a go now

Yes as older Prime95 only tests 2 Cores (and Orthos is basically a update to Prime95 its the same) you ran 2 instances but not doing different tests IMO.

Get the newer Prime95 I linked to and run it 1x.

its downloaded & running now. using the otherhalfs pc for the web whilst its running.

which test is best to run for stability, small fft, large fft or blend?

running it on blend at the moment

I'm going to leave it running on a blend overnight.

Many thanks for the help helmutcheese, much appreciated

Small ffts will generate the most heat. Best test for overall stability.

I always run prime95 (small fft) for at least 8 hours to test my cpu overclock:) Then 4 or 5 hours blend to test the ram.

small ffts to test CPU stability, blend to test RAM stability and Large ffts is a good overall heat generator for board temps (RAM/NB).. Would also get yourself 3D mark and blast that for a while.. if its stable through that you are fine :)

Thanks for the help everyone.

Got 3Dmark with my graphics card, so thats going to be installed tomorrow & I'll have a play with it then.

Tonight I'll leave it on large ffts tonight
