OS install advice needed.

I will be completing a build later today but i'm wondering if i will need a floppy drive to install SATA drivers during the initial install of the OS.

Gigabyte P35-DS3R
Samsung Spinpoint T 500GB SATA-II
Vista 64-Bit Premium

Just the one HDD, i will be connecting to one of the SATA sockets on my MB.

Vista should have SATA drivers built in, if you were going for RAID you might need a floppy drive.

You should be fine.

I think with Vista you can load the RAID drivers onto a USB stick and use that instead of a floppy.

And you get them onto the usb stick how, nice idea but it still means you have to have a floppy drive.

My Gigabyte DS3 has an option to enable SATA to IDE masking or whatever its called. So if you have any issues use that. Vista has good SATA support. If you install XP you will need to emulate IDE or use a floppy. Or better still, use nLite
