Hi guys, 1st let me say a huge thanx for all the help you guys have given me in the past.
However :)
I have ordered a “HyperX Predator PCIe Gen2 x4 (M.2) Internal SSD” to go with my MSI Z170A Gaming M7, I also bought RAM, CPU,etc
I'm not to techy, my plan is to install OS (Win 8.1) onto the M.2 drive, I know I must disconnect all other drives from system, then boot up the pc, goto bios and tell it to boot from usb stick (holds OS) then tell it where to install, then exit and save,
Is that it, will it do the rest ? i.e. will it install win 8.1 without the techy stuff :(
I understand I will be asked my name Product code etc, but nothing to tecky ?
I am nervous, for when I begin there is no way of contacting you guys as I will be off line.
I can build the PC, but when I 1st boot up, do I install motherboard drivers etc, then the Win OS ?
Did I say I'm nervous
Again Thanx in advance

Use rufus to prepare your USB stick for a UEFI install
https://rufus.akeo.ie/

Disable CSM and Secure Boot in the bios

Boot from the USB drive, allow setup to create it's own windows partitions and you should end up with Windows installed in UEFI mode.

After windows is finished installing, you can start adding drivers

I bought a OS win 8.0 about 18mths ago on a pen drive, do I need to prepare this somehow ?
I never thought about this, good point, I am trying to get it all striaght in my head before I make a move, it might be usb 2.0 I think the m/board is 3.0, ?
I was hoping that 3.0 would accept 2.0, I have copied your answer.
many thanx

Afraid I have no idea regarding the Windows 8 purchased on a USB drive, I've always just made my own, sorry

USB3 is backwards compatible and will drop back to USB2 speeds when required

Many thanx, good to know 3.0 backwards compatible, I will look into USB pen OS,

Yes the Windows 10 media creator this will make you a bootable USB flash drive to install from. Do it quickly as Microsoft may stop activating 10 with previous Windows keys soon (it still works at the moment).
