OS Re-install - steam issues

I'm new to steam and recently did a re-install but now only one of my 5 games bought will start.

Any idea as to how I can fix this?

This is correct I have to do it every time I copy my steam folder for a fresh install, normally it's left 4 dead 1 and 2 that have the problem.

Noob question but how do I do this.

COD Black OPS and LFD are the games that wont play.

EDIT : Found out how and did this and now all my games are marked as unavailable !

It is an option on the context menu for the game (I think) - just right click on the game name and there should be an option there....if not, go to 'properties' on the context menu and it will be on one of the tabs.

indeed, it's in the r-click game > properties menu.

Reading on steams site I'm now backing up the steamapps folder and then re-installing.

See how that goes.

What I normally do when I do a fresh install is download the steam installer, and just install to the same folder on my games drive where it is located. Then for games that don't work do the verify and have never had a problem!

So backing up the steam apps and reinstalling should give the same results.

Now I can get back to being very bad at these games !
