OS Upgrade

Thinking of changing from Vista 32 bit Business to Win 7..64 bit premium when it arrives.Mainly because i was thinking of upgrading my memory from 2Gb to 6Gb. But as my machine is running my games ok at the moment will i see much of an improvement in things by just increasing the memory in that way?
Or should i just stick another 2Gb in my system and stay with Vista 32 bit for a while longer? ( I realise win 32 bit only sees 3 Gb)

Personally I would yeah, suprised youve put up with vista running only 2 gig of RAM tbh, that must be slow.
win7 is a better and smoother experience anyway and the extra RAM will help, so overall yes you should notice quite an improvement in your general desktop usage

I'd choose 4gb over 6gb for a 775 platform, it's better to keep the ram balanced really. An extra 2gb will probably improve things, and an extra 4gb improve things by exactly the same amount as 2gb did.

Changing from 32bit to 64 OS can make drivers hard to find, but this is a lot better than it used to be.

You have an excellent graphics card there, I'm very fond of my one (same even down to the clock speeds

i'd go with w7 ultimate 64 bit because of the extra features, you never know when you might need them or the extra ram

Thanks Guys. I was going to buy another 2X2 Gb sticks of the same memory i have but i see they only sell it in 1 Gb sticks Can i buy other ram with the same settings (latency etc) and mix it with the OCZ ram? or should i just stick an extra 2X1 Gb in and live with it untill i buy or build a complete new system in a couple of years..?

I'm running a fairly similar spec, and funnily enough I'm asking myself the same and similar questions about memory upgrades and OS upgrade.

I think I read somewhere that running 4x 1Gb is not as good as 2x 2Gb, so suspect same issues/reasons would apply to running 2x1Gb + 2x2Gb. I may be wrong though...

64bit drivers are as easy to find as 32bit drivers nowadays, so you can basically ignore what he said. No offense meant

Get another 2gb and switch to 64bit Windows 7, you will notice it. And indeed I don't know how you can put up with 2gb on Vista, well done

Ultimate over Pro has basically no features that any home user is going to care about, but soem will, and if i was to be buying it now at full retail (£10 diff) then I would get it

Back on the pre-orders though, 90£ for pro or £150 for ultimate....pfffft.

I've gone for Win 7 x64 Home Premium. I got it from MSDN and all installed.

I really didn't need Professional or Ultimate. They don't offer anything more for the average home user.

I've had no problems with x64 drivers either.
