OS X 10.10.3 Update Out Now

Oh good, that means it'll finally be time to dump Dropbox photo uploading and gain a whole bucketload of space back.

And time to pay to increase the iCloud storage space as well...

This is so awesome. "Fixes and issue that may cause Bluetooth devices to disconnect". Trackpad now constantly jittery whereas before it was completely free of issues. Hmm.

Anybody elses Photo's app taking absolutely years to upload their iPhoto library's to iCloud?

It's only 1.3k photos, which isn't that many in the grand scheme of things..

Hi just wondered if anyone has information on how you would go about removing Aperture and iPhoto now I have the photos app without messing up the library location of the photos?

Obviously these two programs are sitting on my Macbook Air which doesn't have the biggest drive and if I can free up some space once I have uploaded my photo library to the Cloud that would be great.

Thanks for any help.

@Bilbo if i understand correctly, you want to keep your current library in current location but use with photos?

I had this, iphoto library on 2nd hdd not in standard user folder iphoto library. Once you update, hold option and click on photos, it will then allow you to select your old library and it will import it.

My iphoto library was around 55gb, but imported all the albums and faces and all is fine.

I got bored after 2hours at about 10%... my Aperture library is 285gb with approx 22k photos. I had to force quit, very glad ive got 3 or 4 backups of the library as i wasnt happy about force quitting it for, I think ill break it up into smaller libraries and import them one at once at a later stage.

Mine is currently still uploading 1.2k of photos @ 50KB/s :p

Started uploading before I went to bed on Friday.

How is the iCloud experience? Not sure I wan't to commit to a monthly fee for it just yet. For photo uploading, I'm using Dropbox carousel (I have 50gb storage free) and thinking of also adding in MS OneDrive (40gb free) for keeping my photos backed up.

******** to that then! I refuse to pay for more after they stripped my 20GB back to 5GB when they cancelled MobileMe. I was a .Mac subscriber since 2006...

I'll carry on using the 40GB that Microsoft give out at no cost. The iPhone app backs up the camera roll using 4G in the background, which is very nice and insanely quick.
