Hi all,

I've seen this in a few screenshots and was just wondering how you do it? Instead of just having the "Macintosh HD" icon, how do you get the same shortcut that appears at the top of finder to appear on your desktop.

I think you are mistaken, OP.

Most people on here have changed the default icon of the HDD, to that which resembles their machine e.g. they have a MBP icon for the HDD.

Pressing Cmd + J will let you choose which elements are visible when connected on the desktop (HDD is on by default).

Fair enough... Can't really argue with that :)

Is there a way to get at the icons used by the system (the windows equivelent would be pointing at shell32 to see all the system icons?) So I can use the apple-supplied laptop icon?

thanks for pointing me in the right direction though, i thought i was going mad as i figured it had to be simple :)
