OS X Update access privileges

Hi all,

I have a question regarding the Mac OS X Update. I have a new iMac and when I go to use the Software Update I get told that there is an update to 'Mac OS X Update'.

When I try to install it, it downloads fine, but then when it tries to run it I get an access denied.

Now, the strange thing is, I am an admin user, but the team that set the mac up have set some weird privileges.

I was wonder what file/s this update updates, because, being admin, I have the access to update file privileges.

Its a wierd one, I know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it asking you to confirm your password? You need to do this so it can install the updates.

yeh, it asks me to put in a username and password, my username is already filled in that part, but I can change it.

When i put in my username and password I get a window pop up saying that I dont have the privileges to do the update.

Any ideas?

Just out of curiosity, try and download it manually and install it, see if that works:

Or try this if it doesn't work:
