Hi all

Am getting a Macbook air as soon as the next refresh occurs, but after playing around on OS X quite a few times... I am finding the volume control seriously lacking! Since Vista windows has had independant volume control for different applications and I can't seem to replicate this on a mac... I tend to have my browser at a much lower volume level than any other volume source, but I like to be able to adjust it on the fly, and it appears this is not possible!

Is there any third party solution out there?
Cheers.

Wow, that's pretty useless. It's honestly a feature I use a lot in Windows. Suppose I'm going to have to get used to living without it, same as middle click in web browsers :(

Oh, I was told you couldn't, I haven't got my mac yet and haven't been able to test it with any normal mice in a store or the like.

By middle click I mean to drag around pages, as in, middle click once and then move the mouse to scroll.

Having moved from Win7 to OSX the lack of per-app volume control is the most annoying omission of OSX right next to not being able to rightclick+drag to copy/move a file!

Considering I'll be using a mouse when I'm not out and about, yes I will be wanting to.

Speaking as somebody who used a mouse all his life and switched to a MBP this year:

Why the hell you would want to use a mouse over the trackpad, especially for internet browsing, is beyond me.

I had only ever heard good things about the trackpad and thought it couldn't be that great.

It truely is.

Two finger scroll on webpages then use 3 finger swipes to go back and forth between pages makes browsing a breeze.

I started using my old logitech G5 and went back to trackpad, really is awesome.

Regarding the volume I have not noticed this yet myself but only got my macbook on Saturday. I know what you mean though, i used to have my volume low on my browser and high on my music, annoying playing music loud and getting the sounds of the browser coming in.

EDIT: Just found this as link on google which might help a bit though its not exactly what your looking for

24" Monitor for browsing while at home will be better than an 11" screen, so I will be using a mouse.

Most applications do yes, but it's much nicer to have them centrally, and to be able to control the browsers output, too.

Get an Apple Magic Mouse and then you can do all the 2 finger/gesture type stuff with it :)
