I have a family memeber who wants an online shop setting up, to sell dresses. She currently sells using an eBay shop and takes payment via PayPal but wants something a little more individual.

She's seen osCommerce and really likes how the default template looks (don't ask). As I've not used it before I have a few questions:

- How easy is it to setup in and get working in general?
- How easy is to link to a paypal account to accept payments (would need to direct to the PayPal (ebay style) as I doubt they are willing to pay the extra for a secure server - I also assume they'll need a merchant account (although to open an eBay shop don't you need one already???).
- Looking at the feature list it seems like it got basically everything you could ever want from a shop - is it easy to remove/disbale unwanted features?
- Do I need to ask for any special permissions/settings to be changed/made available in my hosting?

Thanks

Its easy to setup if you have cpanel or Plesk control panel with your hosting package. You can install Oscommerce at a one click through cPanel which includes many open source scripts. They have their community support forum where you can post if you need any assistance. You will find variety of topics discussed there so setting up Oscommerce and managing it won't be a big problem. You can check their forums at http://forums.oscommerce.com
