Hey folks,

So I'm now almost two months into the switch over from Win7 to OSX and I'm really enjoying. The only remaining hitch is getting all my data back from an old FAT32 (or NTFS, I honestly can't remember) external HDD. There are quite a few documents, pictures and music files I would like to have on my Macbook.

Each time I try to simply copy and paste the files, I get a number of errors including lack of authorization, time outs, read-only errors and random others. I have had more success transferring files to an 8GB flash card, and transferring to my Macbook in this manner - but as the old external HDD is 250GB this process is lengthy and quite frankly annoying.

Is there anything I can do, short of formatting the drive?

Thanks!
