OSX Apps on ext HDD

If I drag an app from findr to my external HDD will it just work if I plug it into another mac?

CS2, Appleworks, infact everything I've tried to use off an external HD works.

Should do, although it would probably get reset to all default options since the preference files are usually stored in the first Mac's Library directory.
