True but it does sound like he's preaching exactly like Gates and Jobs do.. specifically as he mentions where he'd like to see Linux in media etc - nothing like being an pesudo-MD and having vested interest in the financial take up of Linux eh?

Apple and MS operating systems are probably 'crap' under the hood. However as a user I don't care about that.

I pay, yes pay, for a product that works (and it does) for my needs (yes mine!).

My MacBook Pro works. Yes I am unsatisfied by the stability reports of Time Machine (a major reason for upgrading but being in the software industry I will wait till the major update after before using it!). A concious and planned decision on my point (for me - not anyone else).

My experience of using Linux (kubuntu 64bit with X2 4400, X1950XTX, 2GB) was that the fabric of workspace that the applications presented to me to get my work done was bad (over a year spent on it).

I DO NOT BUY AN OPERATING SYSTEM FOR IT'S TECHYNESS - I BUY THE FACILITATION TO QUICKLY, RELIABLY DO MY DOMESTIC CHORES SO I CAN DO SOMETHING ELSE WITH MY LIFE.

/rant over..

At least you can take sollace in the fact you paid OTT for something *nix based, anyway :D

Seem my comment about not caring about the techyness.

I have a degree in software engineering with specialisation in distributed systems and over 11 years in the global industry. I could quite easily write, compile, patch, etc if I could face pulling my teeth out one by one without pain relief.

However I do not want to waste my valuable time outside of my work job in the lame task of trying to figure out how to get something to work. I do not get any feeling of fun out of it and view it as a complete waste of time!

I feel that, Linux-boi attitude is just as bad as Apple-boi or MS-boi ... I'm just a regular home user.

The Inquirer, as usual, has taken Linus' quotes out of context and produced a sensationalist article. He actually said that OS X was generally a good operating system but its file system was crap and in some ways Windows Vista was better.

Hardly controversial stuff.

I did read the entire article. However if you read how LT is presenting it - it does read with a little tinge of Hypocrascy (ics!)
