I was going to post in the other thread about OSX crashing, but thought it best not to mess it up.

After reading that thread and deciding I was having similar problems i did a re-install last night. I have nothing installed as of yet, and just tried to open iTunes however it crashed and will not force quit! The only other application open is Software Update.

Any ideas? Surely on a fresh instal it cant be a software issue?

Thanks :)

If you've got an external hdd, i'll put a fiver on that being the culprit... when if wont force quit next time, try and eject the hdd - if probably wont eject which identifies it as the problem. if you then switch if off (and savour the feeling of power that although it wants to be stubborn you get the last word) itunes should then quit and you know where the problem lies...

i actually only switch on my hdds when i need them now as i can't seem to avoid this... shame cuz i liked time machine but i prefer problem free running if i had to choose...

Yes I do have external Hard Drive's. I have all my films and music on them and also record eye tv onto another so it would be a pain having to switch them on and off :(

It seems it really is dead, won't load osx now it just comes up with setup assistant when it loads up and when you complete it or close it, it never goes away. Can't get it to boot from the recovery disk now either.

So what do I do regarding warrenty? Its over 12 months but I have apple care. Is there a number to ring or can I take it to an apple store?

Best bet is taking it to the Genius bar in your nearest Apple store. Expect a week wait before you get it back though.
