OSX doesn't like my portable hard drive

I have a portable hard drive that works fine in windows but on macs it wont let me write files to it. I can still read files and copy files from it but it wont let me put any new ones on it. What gives?

It's formatted as NTFS.

OSX can't do that natively, only writes to HFS and FAT32. Some 3rd party software can allow it though, can't remember their names though sorry.

You need Fuse + NTFS-3G.

Well I'm using it with the macs at uni so I guess I'll just have to reformat the drive.

Just use FAT32 if you want cross-platform compatibility.

What you want is NTFS-3G. Allows reading and writing to NTFS drives in Mac OS X.
