OSX El Capitan

I rolled back, too many bugs. 20+ mail crashes per day and various apps that didn't work. Still not bad for a first beta.

So updating to PB 4 this morning, oh lord that was painful. Ending up getting kernel panics trying to login, could get into safe mode but not even single user mode worked. Ended up being some old VirtualBox files/drivers that were causing it. Removed them in safe mode and worked first time.
So heads up to anyone that is updating to PB 4!

I have run El Captain since DP1, but it doesn't seem very different apart from a few gimmicks like shaking the pointer makes it grow in size. I think it is more 'under-the-hood' stuff for developers such as SWIFT2 and Metal graphics.
Apps that rely on the deprecated Java Runtine 6 don't work, such as Sonicwall Netextender and Adobe CS4.
Mail seems even worse that in Yosemite for hanging and quitting unexpectedly. Apple may as well dump it - it has never been very reliable and the new MS Outlook app is nicer..

I had an email telling me I can download the El Capitan GM Candidate but it seems that it only shows in the App Store if I'm running a previous beta which I'm not. I take it that means there's no way I can get it until it's officially released?

Not a paid one. This is the email I received:

Looks like they pulled it for a short while and just opened it up to the public beta people. Guessing you'll need to install it as an update from within an existing El Cap install.

I'll fire up the mini and have a look.

A day after installing the GM my MBP got stuck in a boot loop, kept saying the system failed to start up and the would hang on the Apple logo, so I booted into the recovery mode and reinstalled El Capitan through that, however I seem now to be missing around 15GB of space, anyone got any ideas?

No, if you go to the Apple website via the email you were sent and go to the beta page or OSX, you can register your mac. Doing that takes you to another page with a redemtion code. Click on the code, and it opens the App Store and downloads the GM version.

I'm not running the beta and it's currently downloading the GM now.

If I'm running the GM build will it update normally if there are updates, or do you continue to just get beta versions?

Sorry if this has been asked, but I'm enrolled my iMac and installed El Capitan. When the public release comes out, will it update to the public release and then how do I stop it updating to new Beta software? Cheers.

You can turn off showing beta releases in Settings > App Store.

You can unenroll by restoring Yosemite and you can leave the program by signing in to the beta and selecting to leave. Although It's recommended you stay enrolled until the next public commercial version is released so the first option of turning off receiving pre-releases via Settings is probably the best option if you don't wan't to reinstall.
