I'm getting pretty fed up of mail's stability since mavericks, specifically with regards to my gmail account, added into my frustration is my inability to get it to sync up to my works email account.

Could anyone recommend some alternative email clients? I have seen Sparrow mentioned quite a bit however the reviews on the app store don't sound too complimentary. From the reading that I've done it doesn't really sound that there is a definitive 'best app' out there, with all having their ups and downs. All I'm really after is something to sync my personal emails and my two work email addresses up in one place.

Im in same boat as you mate, HATING mail at the moment. Was using gmail in browser but it's just long winded and have been using thunderbird for 2 days now. Still unsure but it's better than mail thats for sure. They really need to fix it as it used to be so good. It can't even archive e-mails properly anymore..

It seems that sparrow is one of the most popular ones but the reviews are so mixed, one will sing its praises whereas the next will slate it. Reading further airmail seems to get some good reviews..

yup, that's one of the issues I've experienced with mail. Decided to give Airmail a go as its only around £1.50, seems pretty good so far, managed to get my personal gmail account set up easily, as well as my the exchange email account from one of my jobs. The other one is having none of it though, its an NHS email account, could never get it to work with mail neither, but I've had no issues getting it to work with both my android phone and the iPhone I had previous. Rather irritating.

Postbox is worth a punt.... Cross platform forked version of Thunderbird. Was worth paying good money for it for me, as it's common across Windows and OS X and works really well with multiple gmail accounts.

Not tried it with my NHS.net account, but did get that working on bog standard Thunderbird at work with a little coaxing.

Sparrow is pretty much abandoned since Google bought them.

Airmail I found OK to a point, but after trialling Postbox I dropped the cash for that one. Yes, it's effectively Thunderbird that you have to pay for, but the feel of it through use was worth it for me. YMMV though!

Another vote for Sparrow here. Been using it for months now and it just works seamlessly. Was rather disappointed when they were bought out by Google as it means there will be no future updates or bug fixes.

Only issue I have had with it was when it, was it constantly trying to load emails in and get stuck on the loading screen. It's a known bug and all that was required to fix it was to remove the offending account and re-add it.
