Just wondered whether this would work as I'm having some problems with the install. I've got the installer on a USB stick but the I can't get past selecting the bootable drive, the drive just sits there flashing and nothing happens.
Hardware wise its a late 2006 Macbook, 2.0 Ghz Core2Duo with 2GB RAM.

I've used the same flash drive to install a Macbook Pro, so I know it works.

Any ideas?

Does it have the GMA 950 in it?

I know you can't run 64 bit kernels with a GMA 950 due to there being no 64bit kexts. i think the last version that had 32bit was lion (atleast thats what i've got on my A1181 MacBook)
Never actually tried putting Mountain lion/Mavericks on it so i don't know what it does.

I had a C2D Mac mini with GMA950. Lion was that latest it would do.

However I'd strongly recommend sticking with Snow Leopard. Had many issues of poor performance with Lion. Particularly Netflix use. Even window animations were occasionally choppy. Much better when I reverted to SL.

That's interesting about Lion. As it was on Lion before do you think it's possible to restore a Time Machine backup to get back the data and programs ?

Sorry can't help there. Never used time machine (despite having owned 5 Macs) I'm much more of a manual backup kind of guy.
