hey all,

i'm new to this osx business, and i have a question regarding mp3 software...

... what is the best software for recording, listing and playing mp3's? it doesn't have to be a single piece of software, i.e. one to recond, and one to list and play mp3's :)

i'm using itunes at the moment, and i trying to import some of my christmas cd's, and its taking forever, used to winamp

cheers, and Merry Christmas! :D

Is Garageband really OK for recording?

I want to hook it up to my mixer to record mixes and so on. Been used to using Adobe Audition/Cool Edit Pro on Windows.

I've had a quick look at Garageband but there are no audio level meters and when I press record it seems to play some sort of piano track in the background?

Is Cacophony any good?

Not sure how iTunes is the "best" software for CD ripping such as the OP is doing..

Edit: although I suppose it has an error correction option, so it's probably ok :)
