OSX quick memory question..

Still getting used to Macs.
In the Activity Monitor, is Inactive memory available or not?
There is also a Free amount and still not sure what the difference is.

If for example I have 52Mb Free and 700Mb Inactive, which is available for running apps?

Didn't find that.
So basically, yes it is available if I need it. Good, otherwise I need more memory
