Osx - Tiger & Hardware

Hi all,

Well i have had my Powerbook G4 17" for 2-4 years i upgraded it to Tiger when it came out and runs perfect!!

As my main system fell (windows computer) last week so I've had to use my G4.

Tiger -

Every time i login , my desktop is fine as i set it , then all of a sudden another desktop overlaps it?
Are there any tweaks i can do to increase my Cashe?
Whats the easy way of changing to a different window i.e web browser windows?
Is there an easy way of not having icons on the desktop?

Is it worth the upgrade to Leopard?

New RAM - have no idea what (max) this can take
DVD-R Drive (Internal)

What else can i upgrade? i will be asking noob questions as my dad uses the laptop more than i do

More RAM, bigger HDD

Use the expose keys f9, f10 and f11 to navigate through windows

Might be if you get some more RAM, also depends if you have any use for the new features or the eye candy.

2048MB (2GB) is the max it can take

Nothing much really as it is a laptop, HDD and Optical drive would be a good place to start.

I shall get 2GB RAM next then

& look for a new optical drive , n then maybe Leopard.

Is Leopard graphics intensive?

It can be a little bit but as core image is quite kind of graphics resources, you should be fine. I had leopard running with all the eye candy on a iBook G4s ATI Mobility Radeon 9550 and it was perfectly fine.
