I recieved a macbook just a few days ago, no ribbing please for missing out on the C2Ds by a couple of days  which is a kick in the nads. I thought macbook pros were C2D and macbooks were CD, if I had known a change was brewing I would have waited.

However on a happier note everything feels a lot smoother than winblows, I have discovered some handy things myself and got told about the 2 finger scrolling technique. I was wondering are there any other features I should know about that will be handy. I should mention I have read the sticky and grabbed some of the apps. Im not one for R-ingTFM.

Thanks any tips or components I should get would be excellent.

Expose? (F9,F10,F11)

I don't find it that useful but you can drag folders and applications onto the top area in the Finder.

Theres thousands of little bits and pieces, thats the only ones I can remember of the top of my head for now though.

Here's a great tip for ya!!!

If you've only had your MacBook a few days simply return it and get the new version. I think Apple give you 2 weeks to return items ;)

Hi
So if I walk in to the apple store with my Macbook (I have 2 days left) how do i tell him he's wrong if he denies the fact that I can't exchange?

What proof do I have that its legit to exchange?

Does it have to be the store you bought it from?

Thanks

Get him to ring up Apple.

Usually you have to pay a re-stocking fee, but if they're an official reseller or an Apple store they should know about the 14 day returns procedure or they're not very good at what they do

7. Your Right to Return the Products or Cancel a Contract for Services and to Receive a Refund

7.1 If you are not satisfied with any Product or the terms of any entitlement to Services you have purchased from us, you may return the Product to us or cancel the entitlement to Services and obtain a refund of the price of the returned Product or Service entitlement if you contact us within 14 Calendar Days of delivery of the Product or entering into the contract for the purchase of of Services. If you choose to return a product the transportation charges set out in paragraph 7.2 paragraph D below will apply.

Is there really any point? Is a 25% speed increase really worth it?

To be honest I don't think there is, sure you paid a lot of money for it but that is just something you have to expect from Apple, everything i've bought has gone out of date in a couple of months of me buying it. A couple of days is a difference I know, but after you go through the hascel of returning it and getting a new one are you really going to be sitting there with it thinking "wow, this speed increase was definetly worth it, i can see such a difference now" ... in my opinion you won't.

For the sake of 2 days I'd be tempted to trade.

After all, you only have to go in to the store and swap it for the new one. It'd be a lot more hassle if you had to send it off; in which case I'd probably recommend you didn't.

I'd swap it out as if it were my job. The C2D version is a whole generation ahead. It'll have all the manufacturing bugfixes that they learned about whilst producing the first gen. It'll hold its value better on the resale market becasue it's newer tech, just as a Northwood P4 holds its value better than a Willamette P4 does.

I contacted the Apple store, by E-mail, where I bought my Macbook.

This is the reply I got this morning -

"Dear xxxxx,

The machine may be returned if it is unopened to us within two weeks. Unfortunately we are not told about product changes and can not take goods back after they are taken from the store and used. I am sorry about this but we are genuinely not told about Apples product changes, until we see them on the web.

Please if you have any questions, feel free to contact me".

I have no clue if thats a fob off or not? What do you think?

Anyhow i well happy with Macbook Core duo. I even pu XP  On & its working a treat.

Good Luck To anyone who taking theres back

Sounds like a bit of of "fob off" which is easy to do via email.

You should have walked into the shop with your macbook nicely boxed up and a shop full of customers, demanded a refund or exchange under Apple's 2 week clause. I doubt they would have fobed you off so easily.

Glad your enjoying your Macbook though, it is cool how it runs XP :)

Ditto.

I have decided not to go through the process of even attempting to return it I am happy that it does what I want it to do and by the looks of it my memory is going to be the bottleneck I only have 512mb, I may upgrade this in the future but for now I am very happy :D

Where did you buy it?

If it was direct from Apple just quote the passage of the terms and conditions i posted and ask where it says they must be unused. Best have a look at the full terms just to make sure, you don't want to look like a fool lol.
