Hi,

If I were to switch from OSX to XP, I would have a few worries!

If I wanted to create music and edit video on 'windows xp' then what apps are recommended?

I like using iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand, Final Cut Express and Logic Express to do all video and sound work. Any similar/equivalent 'windows xp' based programs?

What apps are you guys currently using or would use to do the above-mentioned tasks?

Thanks,

Can't do anything on Mac that can't be done on windows :p
There are a couple of things that you can do on Windows that you certainly can't on a Mac, catch viruses and crash! :p

Macs don't crash? Macs don't have constant OS upgrades to plug holes in the software? I wouldn't brag that they don't get viruses, just means they're a tiny part of the market :p lets face it if they ever become properly dual platform and as common as windows environments they'll have just the same number of problems as PCs :p or as one of my mates calls them "proper computers".

Fact is neither mac nor PC is better for anything these days, anyone who says otherwise is blinded by stupidity and brand loyalty which neither apple or microsoft deserve.

Windows Movie maker is a sort of free cut down version of iMovie, I wouldn't say it was as good as iMovie though, MS simply haven't put the effort into it. There are tons of movie editing packages around on both platforms, personally I like Adobe Premier but that's only because I can't afford to buy anything else at the moment :p

I use both but I prefer a Mac. There are viruses for Macs but only OS9, there are none for OSX and even if there were, given the differences between the way the OSs work, it is a lot more difficult to do any damage. That said, especially given the change to Intel based Macs and Universal applications, I expect that may change shortly.

PCs do games a lot better but then again, why use a PC for games when a console will do it better.

Hmmm, MS not putting a lot of effort into something, usual story. :p
