OSX upgrading

I'm looking to go mac for the first time in the form of a cheap 2009 MacBook Pro running Leopard.

I'd be looking to upgrade it to Lion as soon as it's released but my question is, will I be able to upgrade straight from Leopard to Lion or will I need to buy Snow Leopard and then install Lion?

Hopefully some longtime Mac owners will be able to shed some light for me. :)

All the versions of OSX released so far have been full versions, including Snow Leopard even though the terms of the license made it an upgrade.

It's still a fully functional full version in the box.

That's great news. Thanks for the quick response, here's hoping that I settle into the Mac way just a fast. :D

I'm sure you will. I got a MBP recently (the new 2011 release) and spent the first week hating it, even though I was used to using Linux as well as Windows 7. Suddenly though I realised I wasn't hating it, and using other computers (especially laptops) was somehow... inferior. :p

Give it a good month, then come back. I guarantee you'll be in love. hehe Enjoy your new purchase when you get it. :)

I know what you mean. The way the OS uses gestures on the laptop touchpads is fantastic and puts any other portable computer I've used to shame. I used to hate touchpads but I find myself not using my USB mouse at all with my MacBook. Although of course you'll still want a mouse for making fine adjustments in things like Photoshop.
