My sisters 2010 Macbook is beachballing on startup and I'd like to try re-installing Yosemite, but can't find the DMG anywhere. Any ideas where to get it?
A bit of an update, I can boot into Disc Utility and I've tried re-installing from there, but when we input the Apple ID details it says the service can't be reached at the moment. Wifi is working from within Disk Utility too.
I've tried to get Yosemite on a different Mac but only El Capitan is available.
Yes, the re-install is to repair and save the files on the disc. It had been away for a new hard drive to a local Mac technician and came with Yosemite. Was previously on Snow Leopard.
Interestingly I spoke to Apply Support last night and they explained the reason for the error when signing into the App store, there was no Yosemite install associated with the account so it was not possible to re-install. They suggested a fresh install of SL, then upgrading though the App Store. The downside is everything on the disc would be lost.
Not great, hoping she has a Time Machine backup on an external disc somewhere!
