A compilation of my PC's problems.:D

  • Frequently locks up seconds after booting.
  • Blue screen of death sometimes occurs when starting up a game.
  • Disk Defragmenter can neither analyze nor fragment.
  • Internet Explorer fails to open, thus I cannot check my hotmail.
  • It squeaks.
  • It's a Dell.
  • Mouse sometimes is not able to move after booting (I have all the latest drivers and firmware for it [Razer Lachesis])
  • My logon/password screen has changed to the more formal version, for no evident reason, and will not let me change it back. (XP Media Edition)

Please, help is very much appreciated.

Try replacing the hard drive after running a memtest and see what happens. Is the Blue screen one saying "Memory Parity Error. Please contact your hardware vendor." as my Dell laptop does that sometimes :( If it is and it does it often then try replacing the memory. If that doesn't help (and no other suggestions here do) buy a new pc, not a dell...

welcome to a dell :)

one of funniest things heard in a while but surely that more of a software issue over all other things wat was the last dwnload or update u did before all this and roll it back see if tht sorts the problem

had something like this recently, all it took was to unplug and reconnect the hard disk cable and reseat the memory and PC now boots fine, this was with a small tower Vostro 200

BSOD, could be driver related or as mentioned, bad ram
