Its about time i upgraded my system i have got a Core 2 duo E6600 CPU and and a 8800 GTS GFX with 4GB of DDR 2 i get about 20FPS on BF3 :( . I have a couple components i will keep for my new system

Coolermaster 850W modular PSU
Raptor VelociRaptor 150 GB (Gonna install Games onto this drive)

Main requirement is gaming but i also need plenty of RAM as i will be using vmware / Hyper V to study

I really like the Corsair Graphite 600T Midi Tower Case - Limited Edition White [CC600TWM-WHT] case so that has to be part of the build my budget is £1000-1200 Thanks

Are you planning on replacing your motherboard aswell?

If yes you should be looking at the x79 models and cpu's.
for graphics maybe a 570?
And looking around 8gb of ram perhaps?

Your system is very similar to mine as I'm running a Core 2 Duo E6700 and an 8800 GTX. Mobo is Foxconn P9657AA.

Don't even ask me what I get on BF3 though as sometimes it won't even load :)

Personally, I am wondering whether it's better to wait until next year as we are stepping on the toes of Mr. santi claus so hopefully january will see some price reductions.

Theres a fella who goes by the name Stullid on here. He might pick up this thread and help you out. He's very good at speccing systems and knows his stuff.

are you just copy/pasting this spec into different spec me threads and just adjusting the psu? you seem to be stuck on the kuhler 920 for some reason, unless the op is planning on really pushing the oc there is no point in spending the £30 ontop of the 620 or even better go gelid tranquilo/similar and save even more. oh and the op also said they'll be reusing their psu so no need to include that.

also you seem to have overlooked the fact that the corsair 600t white is a must.

you can drop the cpu to i2500k if you don't need the hyper threading and save yourself £85, can put that towards a hard disk if you need one

I am rather tired since I have been up since 2am so hence the mistake on the PSU. As for copying and pasting then yes I did because I thought it was a good spec for what was/is wanted.

no arguments about it being a good spec, just that it can be adjusted a bit especially if the oop isn't a heavy overclocker then the kuhler 920 can be reduced. the 16gb kingston ram for £60 which the op would benefit from.

fair enough on the mistake :)

How about this one. More towards the lower end of your budget (& exc Windows 7).

I prefer this spec. Main use is for gaming and speccing something like a 560Ti when the budget is £1000-£1200 is just not enough for gaming.

with new graphics cards due out soon its pointless spending best part of £400 on a 580 right now.
