Out of the Box vs Custom solution for Air Cooling

Hi guys,

Have any of you tried customizing your coolers with different fans?

The whole purpose being improved efficiency with the extra bit of silence...
Ive done it ages ago but now things have changed a bit and maybe out of the box coolers can deliver the performance for good o/c while still being reasonably quiet?

What solutions do you use?

I used IFX-14 with 2 x Akasa Viper 120mm fans and MX-4 thermal paste for my Q6600 G0. It gives brilliant performance

Lol it's red cold cathode. I got 2 of these which I bought from Ebay

WingZero30... those nice big fans on top of the case, what make/model are they? Are they quiet?

They look like Cooler Master fans.

I have 4 of them in my HAF X case and they run silent pretty much, good airflow too.

I personally use a Noctua NH-D14 but the Thermalright Silver Arrow is also very cool and quiet. They beat a lot of other air coolers which have to rely on louder high rpm fans.
