Hey there, not had a PC in a while and I want to get a new desktop going.

I'm currently using a 2009 iMac with 4gb ram, 2.66 core 2 duo, geforce 9400 256 meg

I know that I'd like a quadcore, at least 8gb ram, don't mind if it's AMD or Intel. I would also prefer to have a graphics card that would play games at a decent res but not essential at all.

I thought I would let you spec me up because you have much better knowledge than me with the current PC market.

Thanks all :)

Don't need an OS, already got Win 7.

I don't need to play games. It's just something I'd like to include if possible.

80% of the time will be browsing and light video-editing.

Thank you very much for that. Didn't realise you could get a CPU with GPU cores. See, that's how long I've been out of it for!

How would you describe this performance wise?

It will certainly browse the internet, you get OpenCL acceleration support from the graphic core so that may help in applications that support it.

As for games it should do 1080P at medium settings on most titles, apart from say BF4 which you will either have to drop the settings to more "low" or the resolution.

That's put it in plain english for me. Thanks again mate.

If you are thinking about putting cheaper and slower speed RAM in, dont.

APUs rely on the fast RAM for the graphics core and it has a dramatic effect on the frame rate.
