I've been out of the PC gaming loop for some time now, but fancying a dip back in. I've got an E6600 clocked to 3.2ghz and 2gb of RAM. My requirements are:

Must run at 1280x1024 with settings at a high hevel - Must look nice! :)
Around £200, either 2nd hand or new.
MUST WORK IN VISTA - ATI the best bet for this?
Not sound like it's going to take off - This machine is also a media recorder/streamer.

Looking at http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-044-BG&tool=3

Are the current cards at this price range overkill at this resolution? Like I say, out of the loop :)

Cheers

8800 Gts 320/640 or 2900xt are your best bets. if you can stretch to the 2900 it would be worth it otherwise the 320mb gts would be an excellent buy in your price range.

Afaik the X2900XT is a lot better with AA now that its had a few drivers worth of tweaks, beating the 8800GTS with AA on in most cases, and beating it almost unanimously without AA.

However, it is a little overbudget unless you find where these £190 cards are coming from, can be a bit noisier and does require more power, but c'est la vie.
