Hi everyone,

I've been out the loop for a long long time living the 2500k dream, but I have a 1080 coming and I think it may hold me back. My 2500k is at 4.2ghz at the moment due to it becoming a bit unstable with age, but I wouldn't be surprised if it could be pushed a little more with the right voltage. I also only have 8gb of DDR3 at the moment and I feel it's hurting me in games like modded FO4.

I don't know if I should hold on for the next release or if the current 5820k prices are a good time to buy, especially when the pound is low and likely to affect prices once stock goes.

If you think I should upgrade, please do help me spec a mobo, ram and cooler. I know very little about them these days. Last time I looked up mobos was over 5 years ago! Budget - Cheaper the better provided it's not going to hold me back in some way. Little poor after the 1080 purchase :P

I don't video edit anymore, but I do play dwarf fortress. Some might consider that the greatest challenge a CPU might face!

Thanks :)

EDIT: Did I put this in the wrong place?

Checked out some comparison videos and it looks like you're right there. 6700k pulls ahead in almost all situations compared to a 5820k when at the same clock speeds.

Does anyone have any good ideas for a mobo, cooler & ram for a tighter budget? Maybe something like this:
