Been out of the oc loop for years would appreciate some advice from you fine people.

Current rig:
Dual Xeon Noconas
2 gig ram
X800XT-PE
Tagan 480W psu (the ticking one)

Mostly doing development in Kubuntu and playing EVE (3-4 clients so quad is a must) on XP.

Is my current PSU up to the job?

Is the DS3L any good? I'm hoping to get 3Ghz+ from it.

The corsair will be quieter and stabler, but you probably don't need it. Looks like a good build apart from that though.

Also for linux Nvidia drivers have always been better.
 
The ATi drivers have recently been open sourced, or at least the card specs have, so you can expect ATi FOSS drivers to improve a lot in the near future.

At least that's what I'm hoping for, cos I'm going to get a 4850 this week too :)
 
That is the question with ATI at the moment. Damn them for making the 48** such damn good value. I guess in 6 months if there's no sign of movement on ATI drivers then I can always pop in a 260/280.

yer id pop in a 260 now if i were you, price / performance there not that bad.
