Hey guys,
I'm out of the loop and it's that time again where I have the upgrade itch. I've been waiting for Penryn for ages and I've heard that it's out, or coming out, in the form of Wolfdale and Yorkfield. I've also heard that Yorkfield is the quad-core version, which is the one I'd be interested in.
My Q6600 G0 has never done credit to its name. I know most clock really high, but the highest I ever got mine was 3.2GHz and the temps/volts were pretty laughable to get it there, so I'd like to know which Yorkfield would be best for the guy who wants to save money by clocking the boobies off it.
I also notice that while Wolfdale is out, Yorkfield is currently on pre-order. Is there a date for Yorkfield by any chance or is it still in the "just waiting, who knows" period?
Also, if anyone could suggest the best mobo within a decent price range (up to about £150 but could possibly stretch) that would clock a Yorkfield nicely and simply feel free to let me know. I figure this is mostly in the dark though and I'll probably have to wait until you guys get hold of them.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Sincerely,
Ulfhedjinn.
