Which one would you purchase to replace a Scythe Infinity?

The reason I require new one; two of the four **** plastic Scythe 775 push pins are not looking so great after been mounted to 3 different motherboards and 4 CPU's over last 2 years. As a result the Infinity feels tad loose now and I’ve seen temps creep by around 7c, which is not ideal when mounted to an over clocked 1.4v Q6600. :(

Since I can’t be bothered to source new pins (Well that and I’m selling the Scythe to a friend with AM2 system), I'd like to purchase the best current cooler on the market, so your recommendations and reasons for, are most welcome. :)

I think the TRUE is better for overclocking due to its higher fin density and greater number of heatpipes. The Noctua is great for those of us who want a quiet stock system which is why I use it. The only issue with the TRUE is that the base often needed lapping but I haven't heard if they've fixed this with the Black edition.

Neither!

I'd recommend the one I bought, with backplate!

But then I'm a sucka for shiny, bright things!

Mmm, orangey blades, with white leds! :p

Kidding aside, well impressed with the temps, on Prime95 load, running at 57-57-53-53, at 3600Mhz.

Oh yeh, and the fan is so quiet, I leave it on full speed (1500RPM), 24/7, even though it's PWM capable.

Yes, a TRUE would be better, no doubt, but mine cost just over half the price, including Crossbow.

Unfortunately, OCUK don't stock Xigmatek or OCZ coolers, so I had to go elsewhere.

Scythe have released a proper bolt-mounting Socket775 system. I made a post a week or two ago asking when they'd be in stock but didn't get a reply.

The part number is SCCSI-775 but only seems to be available in Jappyland atm.

I would say the Xigmatek S1283 or the TRUE if you insist on changing the HSF.

Scythe may have released a proper bolt-mounting system (Well in Japan at least), but Modding/fixing mine is not an option since I've already agreed to sell it, and tbh my friend made a rather generous £'s offer for the purchase.

The 'TRUE' seems to have the edge in reviews, I just wanted opinions from those who use or have used the coolers listed above^ :)

The TRUE is a very good cooler, i have the black version myself but like the original it suffers from the uneven base problem. Thankfully getting mine lapped to cure this.

I decided to buy the 'Thermalright TRUE Black 120', with additional 'LGA1366 Thermalright bolt-through kit' for extended cooler use on any new mobo's that i many purchase. :) A price of £42 total inc del for both parts (£34 for cooler), from elsewhere was not to be overlooked :)
